Crafted with love

Designed through love

A family-run business based in rural Northern Ireland, Sawdust & Rainbows manufactures activity toys that appeal to kids’ natural curiosity and desire to explore their surroundings, while allowing them to do this in a safe, supported way. We never tire of seeing the joy on little ones’ faces when they master a new skill such as cruising or climbing, and our toys are designed to help them grow in both physical ability and confidence, while having the best fun ever!

Inviting Colours

From the smooth and tactile forms of our activity toys to their joyful colours, Sawdust & Rainbows strives to offer an enriching, sensory play experience for your child. Every frame is painstakingly hand finished, so no two are exactly the same – we even custom mix our paint colours for a completely bespoke finish on every piece. Our finishes are designed to let the grain of the wood shine through, allowing kids to really engage with this beautiful, natural material.

Safe to explore

Kids love to climb! Climbing supports their physical development and teaches them about the world – but if you’ve got a little daredevil on your hands then you’ll know how hard it is to sit back and let them explore independently! Sawdust & Rainbows toys are designed to offer a safe, sturdy play experience that gives kids the stimulation they need while providing peace of mind for mums and dads. Our toys are suitable from birth and independently laboratory certified to comply with the European toy safety standard. They are finished using water-based, toy-safe paints made in the UK, and have been CE, UKCA, ASTM, CCPA and ISO tested.

A sustainable future

Environmental values are at the heart of everything we do.  We’re passionate about safeguarding our planet for future generations and therefore we hold ourselves and our suppliers to high standards on sustainability.  All our timber is sourced from FSC or PEFC certified suppliers.  We work hard to ensure that we generate minimal wastage during the manufacturing process, and any offcuts we do create are recycled.  We also use planet-friendly, water-based paints and we ship our products in recycled cardboard boxes with no plastic packaging, using carbon neutral courier services where possible.

Giving back to the planet

As well as sourcing all our timber from sustainable forestry sources, we’re giving back to the planet through our partnership with Just One Tree – which means that for every sale of our Wee’UN, Finn, Slide and Tearmann, a tree is planted.
